If you want to change things in your life (or in the world) you must begin by imagining something different first. If you struggle to imagine something different ask yourself different questions. Questions are some of the most powerful ways to jump start your visualization and imagination. However, what you ask and the way you ask it is very important.
I like to play this question game as I go through my day (I often do it while riding my bike). I ask myself multiple times a day "wouldn't it be nice if (and fill in the blank) _________." I like to do this in rapid fire style so I can generate a lot of exciting good feeling ideas. Fill in the blank with all the things you want, desire and crave. The more imaginative and creative the better. Mimic the imagination of children when they play games.
Wouldn't it be nice if I found time to cook for myself every day?
Wouldn't it be nice if funding for my project came to me this month?
Wouldn't it be nice if I could learn another language this year?
Wouldn't if be nice if I fell in love today?
Wouldn't it be nice if I was in the best physical shape of my life this summer?
...and so on...
Play this game as often as possible and get creative with it. A big part of creating a strong mindset means exercising it in different ways just like we do with our body. Our subconscious mind operates off the questions we ask ourselves, so it's important to be very intentional in our mind chatter. Check out the power of asking better questions here and the 3 questions you are always asking yourself here.
The "Wouldn't if be nice if" game is very valuable because it sets the foundation for creating new thoughts and ideas. The more you do it, the more you will be able to imagine what it is that you want and move toward it.
Try it and see how it feels!
