"Being realistic is the most common path to mediocrity." ~Will Smith
Your goals should scare you a little and excite you a lot.
If your idea of life is to experience joy and continuous growth toward personal fulfillment, then being a realist will definitely halt you in your tracks. Being realistic does not create new worlds. It does not feed the imagination or help you achieve your ambitions. Being realistic simply keeps you in the same place where most everything is
predictable, routine and average.
Most successful people do not think in terms of what is, but in terms of what could be.
People who have created great things in their life have never first thought about it in realistic terms. Those who were UNREALISTIC invented the light bulb, came up with new theories, built new technology, wrote books, started movements, jumped out of planes, and so on. You must take risks, do great things that scare you a little, solve problems and think beyond your imagination to have an extraordinary life. Being realistic is simply not helpful in achieving greatness.
It's good to know when to asses situations and things in a honest and authentic way. However, when it comes to your big dreams and visions, it does not help to assess them in a realistic way.
Think about these questions:
1. Who do I want to be?
A: You want to be great! Don't settle for less.
2. How do I want live?
A: You want to live extraordinarily! Don't settle for less.
3. How do I want to give and contribute?
A: In whatever way is most aligned with your passion and creativity! Don't settle for less.
What legacy do you want to leave behind?
A: What people most care about is how you made them feel. Make people feel good! Don't settle for less.
Don't give up on the possibilities of living your most epic life simply because it seems easier to be realistic. Be more unrealistic, be more unconventional and be aware of the extraordinary things that are happening around you all the time.
